Mid-Century Modern style has returned several dictates to the interior design industry. One of these is a call for the return of floor lamps with tables. The functionality of these designs answer many interior needs.

Granville is a metal floor lamp with a glass table that is anchored on a marble mounting. The bottom shaft of the floor lamp is a hex shaped bar that matches its hex shaped marble mounting. The shaft above the round glass table is round and features an adjustable height measure to raise or lower the double bulb light fixture. Each bulb is controlled individually with sleek pull chain accessories that match the lamp design.

The attention to detail of these floor lamps places them in the top tier of high end styling.

These accordion pleat porcelain bodies are as crisp as a freshly pressed linen cloth. The pleats cast interesting shadows over the soft semi-matt white glaze. The soft, contemporary conical shaped vases are set on rubbed brass mountings for a clean, classic aesthetic. The lamps are finished with drum shades made with Sailcloth White fabric and capped with rubbed brass finials.

Patterns may begin as mere doodles born from boredom and only later become appreciated for their unexpected beauty. They can entrance with time enough to stare but in-between they are great patterns of neutrality. This pattern evokes the Pacific islands of possibly . . . French Polynesia.

This duo of lamps combines taupe, gray and black for emphasis of the compositional elements. They are seated on antique brass mountings for contrast and shaded with drum shades in a mellow silver metallic fabric called Moonbeam.

Grasp is a modern table and floor lamp duo that combines brass and alabaster. The unusual design features a square stem of beautifully antiqued brass that separates and stretches in two directions above the table or the floor in the case of the floor lamp.

The defining element is the mounting of two round alabaster bars grasped and held by the brass stems that steady the design.

The lamps are adjustable in height with an engineered internal clutch for ease in movement. Because of the height adjustments they are ideal in flexibility from desk to buffet heights.

Shade choices are available in three fabrics: Moonbeam Gray, Sailcloth White and Linen Oatmeal. All are drum shades.

Gray lives on as the king of the modern neutral. This cool tint of color reads, “Fresh, clean and current.”

The Natural Light’s newest collection of gray pottery lamps is a playful modern design of water drops cascading down the vase. The background color is a muted, warm gray and the design of water drops is in a slightly darker gray. The finish is hand rubbed to soften the tone-on- tone decoration.

Two modern pottery shapes are presented with drum shades in a Moonbeam gray fabric with a soft metallic thread. They are set on antique brass mounting for an additional touch of warmth and contrast.

Included in this collection of classics is a gilded iron faceted candlestick lamp. This 8-sided staff is slender at the top and gradually flares at its base to sit on a square mounting that has a sculpted ridge starburst design. The lamp is finished with a shade choice of a canted shade in a soft Gold Luster fabric or a drum shade in an Linen Oatmeal fabric.

The Natural Light is inclined to make this new introduction crystal clear. The new lead crystal lamp named Inclination is a square tower design of four sided wedges stacked five high and mounted on a square crystal mounting. Each wedge piece narrows at the base and flares at the top to catch and refract the light. The simple wedge forms of the lamp take a traditional material and add a modern slant.

Two shade choices are available: a drum shade in the fabric Moonbeam that has a soft gray metallic thread or a white drum shade in fabric Sailcloth White.

Pottery was traditionally made for a purpose. They stored water for the dry season and oil for cooking and light. Today these functional designs are converted into lamps with the purpose of providing light and interest to a room. The textural pots convey a rugged sense of nature and a warm style of gathered details.

All are made by hand throwing terra cotta clay on a potter’s wheel. The glaze is a dark charred brown with purposeful distressing, accenting the underbody of terra cotta. The glaze is then finished with a final clear glaze. The mountings are of steel with a bronze finish. Each has a matching pottery finial. The two shade choices are a canted shade in a Linen Irish fabric or an empire shade in a textured Hopsack fabric.

Platts is a simple as black and white. In its simplicity, the slender cylinder evokes sensations of movement or, for others, adventure.

The cylinder is made of pottery and each is hand painted then gently rubbed with a soft cloth, blurring the edges of line, inviting one’s eye to follow the worn path. Each piece in unique. The pottery cylinder is seated on an acrylic mounting and finished with an acrylic finial. The drum shade is made of Sailcloth White fabric.

Mushroom gray and swirls of white spin this duo of color into a fresh, contemporary look. Two shapes are available, a conical pillar and a vase with a modern elongated neck. Both are seated on brass mountings for contrast and have matching finials.
